The cold-start valve provides additional fuel to help overcome fuel condensation and the extra friction present during engine start-up in cold conditions. Dependent on, and operating in series with, the thermo-time switch, the valve creates an atomized swirl mixture that is injected directly into the intake manifold plenum.
