The Bosch auxiliary air valve opens a cross-sectional air bypass around the closed throttle blades to maintain a steady idle during cold-engine operation. A precisely calibrated bi-metallic strip controls the cross-sectional area of an internal gate, which adjusts the amount of extra air allowed into the engine during warm-up. The bi-metallic strip has its regulating time set by a ceramic heating element, which ensures smooth transitions from cold start to normal operating temperatures, restoring proper cold-start and idle control in your Porsche 911 Turbo model.
