Function & Purpose
The auxiliary air valve increases idle speed when the engine is cold by allowing additional air into the engine. It helps prevent stalling before the engine reaches operating temperature, especially when oil viscosity is high and combustion efficiency is reduced. As the engine warms, the thermostatic element closes the valve and returns idle to normal speed.
